Ping Pong Ballad

  • Objective: Have two people take turns singing about an audience member.
  • Instructions:
    • Two singers, and audience volunteer, and one accompanist needed
    • The singers do a quick interview of the audience member to learn about them
    • The singers then sing about the audience member, but only one at a time
    • The singer that the audience member is looking at is the one who sings
  • Example:
    • Singers: *Interview audience member*
    • Singer 1: *Tell audience member that they determine who sings*
    • *Accompanist starts playing*
    • Singer 1: “You are a mechanical engineer, you love to…”
    • *Audience member looks at Singer 2*
    • Singer 2: “…build everything that you own. You used to play with Hot Wheels when you were younger, now you play…”
    • *Audience member looks at Singer 1*
    • Singer 1: “… with blueprints when you’re grown.”
    • *Keep the song going until some narrative climax occurs*
  • Notes:
    • Make sure to get some key points of the audience member’s life as a way to inspire the song.
    • A singer should pick up right where the other left off, so that their sentences are grammatically correct.
